...Pay My Real Estate Taxes?

You may now pay real estate taxes online with most major credit cards or your check through the secure website OfficialPayments.com or by calling 1-800-272-9829.

Click our pay online link and you will be taken to the site. You will need to enter your personal information, credit card or check information and the Jurisdiction code 6234.

Official Payments will charge a convenience fee for this service. You will be able to see what the fee is and accept or decline before making your payment. You will receive a confirmation of payment and your credit card will reflect the payment to the Town of Dumfries and the convenience fee charged by Official Payments.

Real estate tax bills are mailed twice a year and due June 5th and December 5th, a 10% late penalty will apply after due date and interest accrues annually
Tax rate is .18 cents per $100 of assessed property value
A Stormwater Maintenance fee is assessed annually and is included in the real estate tax bill

How Do I...

...Receive a Town of Dumfries Vehicle Decal?

2008 Town Decals
Available March 1st!

If you are a resident of Dumfries, you are required to display a Town decal on your vehicle. The Town decals are valid from April 15, 2008 to April 15, 2009. You may purchase the 2008 decals at the Dumfries Town Hall located at 17755 Main Street adjacent to the Dumfries Community & Cultural Arts Center. Town Hall is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Please bring your current vehicle registration with your Dumfries address for all vehicles owned. The cost for each decal is $24.00.Active military cost $1.00, handicap no cost. For your convenience, the Town Hall will offer extended hours during the week of April 1—April 11. During this time, the Town Hall will remain open for vehicle decal sales on Monday & Wednesday evenings until 7:30pm.

We also offer our citizens the option of mailing in a copy of their vehicle registration along with a check for $24.00 and a decal will be mailed to your residence within the week. Residents can also avoid waiting in line by placing their vehicle registration information and $24.00 check in an envelope and placing it in the drop-box located next to the front door of Town Hall.

Please note that some Town residents, especially those who reside in the Port-O-Dumfries subdivision, have purchased Prince William County (PWC) decals in years past. If you reside within the incorporated Town boundaries, you are required to display a Dumfries Town decal.

Any Town resident who has purchased a PWC decal should return it to the County’s Department of Finance Taxpayer Service for a refund. The nearest County office is located at the Dr. A. J. Ferlazzo Building, 15941 Donald Curtis Drive, Woodbridge (near the intersection of Route 1 and Cardinal Drive).
